Students at Malawi Science University warned over careless sex
The Malawi University of Science and Technology has warned its students over sexual activities in halls.
Kondwani Kelvin Mkandawire, PhD, Dean of Student Affairs at Malawi University of Science and Technology, addressed the rising concerns regarding inappropriate sexual behavior in the residence halls.
“My office has been alerted by students and guardians about the increasing instances of sexual activity occurring in the rooms of the halls of residence. It is imperative to remind all students that Section 14 of the Student Rules and Regulations explicitly forbids such conduct, and any individuals found breaching this rule will face severe disciplinary measures, ” he said.
Furthermore, students have been told that the rooms in the halls of residence are communal spaces, and any actions that violate the rights and dignity of fellow residents, including engaging in sexual activities, are entirely unacceptable.
“Students are urged to report any incidents of this nature occurring within the residence halls to my office or to the wardens, so that necessary actions can be taken. I also appeal to the MSRC Social Welfare Directorate and all floor representatives to assist in maintaining these standards. ”
He added: “Lastly, students must remember that the University serves primarily as a venue for education and personal growth, and it should not be diminished to a setting that fosters immoral behavior or other social vices,”.
