Woman found dead in maize field

A 30-year-old woman named Ethel Chikanda has been discovered deceased in a maize garden located in Mangani Village, under the jurisdiction of Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka.

According to a police report, the woman had visited her maize garden, situated one kilometre from her residence, but failed to return.

Her relatives initiated a search for her, leading to the discovery of her body in the maize garden, which bore signs of bruising.

Gladson M’bumpha, the spokesperson for Balaka Police, stated that the body has been transported to Balaka District Hospital, where it is awaiting an autopsy.

In his statement, M’bumpha confirmed that efforts to locate and apprehend the perpetrators are currently in progress.
