Battle of landlords: Council closes Housing, MCP offices
Mayor of Blantyre, Isaac Jomo Osman, says the Blantyre City Council has closed offices of the Malawi Housing Corporation because the corporation owes the council money.
Osman said the decision was made on Tuesday after he visited the offices together with the Vice Mayor, councillors, directors and members of the media.
He said the offices will remain closed until the corporation pays part of the money it owes the council, after which operations will resume.
The council team also sealed offices of the opposition Malawi Congress Party.
