Man arrested for stealing solar equipment

Kasungu Police have confirmed the arrest of a 27-year-old individual, Noel Vilipapa, who is accused of stealing solar equipment valued at K50 million from Kasungu National Park.

As stated by Kasungu Police Spokesperson Joseph Kachikho, the theft took place on 8th March 2026, when solar devices, including two 160-watt solar panels, three solar batteries, and a solar energizer, were reported missing from the park.

Kachikho mentioned that following the report, police detectives arrived at the scene and verified the theft before initiating an investigation.

He further noted that through an intelligence-driven operation, the police successfully apprehended Vilipapa, who allegedly confessed to the crime, along with an accomplice who remains at large.

The police have since recovered all the stolen items, and Vilipapa, a resident of Kajojo Village, Traditional Authority Lukwa in the district, is anticipated to appear in court shortly to face theft charges.
