22 people die in Malawi floods
Heavy rains have wrought havoc in Malawi, claiming 22 lives and injuring 71 others.
The Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) reports over 30,000 families affected across 15 councils, with more than a thousand people sheltering in displacement camps.
Commissioner Wilson Mollen noted that widespread damage, including destroyed homes, food supplies, and crop fields.
To mitigate these effects, Mollen says over $10 million is needed.
The situation is dire, with Chikwawa being one of the worst-hit districts.
