Malawi police on manhunt for teenager killers

The Malawi Police Service in Monkey Bay is actively pursuing a suspect linked to the death of 19-year-old Thokozani Alfred.

Kondwani James, the spokesperson for the Monkey Bay Police, reported that the incident took place on the night of Monday, March 23, at Chilembwe Village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Traditional Authority Namkumba in Monkey Bay.

James indicated that the suspect and the victim were allegedly attempting to steal maize from a garden owned by Isaac Kachambo. He further noted that the two assailants began to assault the owner, who was present in the field.

However, during the altercation, when one of the assailants tried to strike the owner, the weapon missed its target and inadvertently hit his accomplice on the head, leading to his immediate death.
