Authorities set sights on learning for children as Pabwalo launches

The National Library Service of Malawi (NLS), in collaboration with the Malawi National Commission for UNESCO (MNCU), Music Crossroads Malawi (MCM), and Rei Foundation Limited (RFL), is set to officially inaugurate Pabwalo, a new multipurpose facility, on 10 April 2026.

This venue is designated to be a dynamic center for cultural interaction and will be situated at the National Library Headquarters in Lilongwe.

According to a statement issued on 8 April 2026, Pabwalo, is intended to function as an inclusive environment that fosters learning and creativity for children, youth, and those passionate about cultural heritage.

“The initiative seeks to address a persistent deficiency in Lilongwe, which has been devoid of accessible public spaces for community gatherings and cultural events,” part of the statement indicates.

Furthermore, it states that the facility will feature a contemporary sound system, a large screen for presentations and film showings, and barrier-free access to accommodate a variety of activities, including traditional storytelling, folk music sessions, motivational speeches, art exhibitions, and archival film screenings.
