Malawian soldier’s rape case continues

The Mulanje Senior Resident Magistrate Court will continue hearing next week on Wednesday a case involving a Malawi Defense Force (MDF) soldier accused of having sex with a minor in the Phalombe district.
Edward Kabango, a spokesperson for the South East police, reports that to date, six of the seven witnesses have given their testimonies in court, with the final witness anticipated to testify when the case hearings continue next week.
The accused Joel Sinkamba, 39, reportedly had sexual relations with a 10-year-old girl in February this year and was removed from the MDF after the event.
Kabango states that the MDF soldier is accused of having committed the crime on 8 February 2025 near the Sukasanje MDF camp in Phalombe district.
