HOLY SEX: Malawi Catholic priest arrested for ‘rape’

Authorities in Masambanjati, Thyolo, have arrested and subsequently bailed a Catholic Priest, Father Daniel Makwiti from Konzalendo Parish of the Diocese of Chikwawa on allegations of causing the pregnancy of a 16-year-old Standard 7 student at Konzalendo Primary School.

Masambanjati Police spokesperson, Amos Banda, stated that the priest reportedly had sexual relations with the girl on three separate occasions.

Malawi Data understands that the issue emerged after the girl’s partner ended their romance, discovering that the pregnancy was connected to the priest.

Initially, it was reported to Group Village Headman Konzaalendo, who supposedly attempted to cover it up by requesting the priest to recompense the girl’s parents with flour baskets and a goat before he went into hiding.

Authorities subsequently located and apprehended the clergyman.
