Police stop fuel ‘cartel’ in Nsanje

Police in Nsanje have arrested two people, Halu Sheha Mpondanguwo, and Lucy Swali, for allegedly possessing 682.5 liters of fuel without a permit.
The arrests were made yesterday, and the suspects are from Nthukuso and Lundu villages, respectively.
According to Nsanje Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Agnes Zalakoma, the arrests follow a targeted operation to combat illegal fuel trade and hoarding, which contributes to fuel scarcity.
One suspect remains at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
The police have seized the fuel, and the two suspects are currently in custody.
The operation aims to address the illicit fuel trade and ensure the product’s availability on the market.
