Kabwila declares outcome of Malawi presidential race

The winner in Malawi presidential election has been known. It is the incumbent Lazarus Chakwera as declared by his party MCP Publicist Jessie Kabwila. She says Chakwera is winning with a 70+1 mark this September.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lilongwe today.

Kabwila has urged people to vote for Chakwera, saying he has a good vision that will benefit everyone.

At this time, Kabwila said that initially he thought that Chakwera under the MCP would get 50+1 votes but after analyzing it, he saw that he would get 70+1 votes.

Kabwila also confirmed that Chakwera, will not participate in this evening’s Presidential Debate.

She, said although Chakwera was personally ready to be part of the event, the party has decided against the same citing unsuitability of potential rivals on the podium.

“We have been asking the organisers to share with us the list of aspirants who will participate in the debate to no avail until we saw names of persons who have never run government and whose characters are questionable and uninspiring,” Kabwila said .
