White smoke: Usi gets relief with a WARNING!

The High Court has temporarily barred the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) from compelling Vice President Michael Usi to appear for questioning related to corruption allegations that surfaced during the election campaign.
Justice Redson Kapindu emphasized the ACB’s crucial role in investigating corruption but deemed its 24-hour ultimatum for document submission and threats of criminal charges as excessive and potentially harmful to Usi’s freedom of expression.
The court’s decision comes in response to the ACB’s insistence that Usi provide specific documentation by tomorrow, which the judge criticized as an infringement on the Vice President’s rights during a critical political period.
The ruling suspends the ACB’s notice and prohibits any threats or coercive measures against Usi until the conclusion of the election campaign.
However, the judge also reminded Usi to be judicious in his public statements, highlighting the need for responsible discourse amid ongoing investigations.
