Man arrested over a fake filling station

Police in Zomba have arrested a 40-year-old man, identified as Lifred Wilson, for being found in possession of fuel without authorization.

According to Zomba Police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano, Wilson was caught with 300 litres of motor vehicle fuel.

Sipiliano explained that the arrest followed a tip-off from community members who reported that Wilson had been illegally keeping large quantities of fuel in the Jenala area.

MERA executive officer, Herny Kachanje, last week, he warned the public against illegal storage of fuel, citing safety risks and the need to follow proper licensing procedures.
