A survey by the Institute of Public Opinion and Research has shown that of voting was held now, 41% will vote for Peter Mutharika of DPP followed by incumbent Lazarus Chakwera of MCP at 31%. 

Dalitso Kabambe of UTM comes third with 6%, while Atupele Muluzi of UDF comes fourth with 3% and Joyce Banda of PP with 2%. 

The survey show 11% of voters are undecided with 5% refusing to reveal their choices. 

The results show overall Chakwera’s support potentially grew by 5% while Mutharika slipped by 2% signaling a potential shift in momentum following the campaign launch. 

According to IPOR, the youths have shown voter intentions to vote for Peter Mutharika by 46% compared to 30% for Chakwera.
