Shrewdness: Worker commits suicide due to crookedness

A 25-year-old man, Isaac Daniel, in Balaka District has taken his own life after being accused of mismanaging timber sales worth K41,000 .

Daniel was part of a joint timber business with friends from surrounding villages.

Although the dispute was resolved at the community level, with Village Headman Mateyu ordering Daniel to repay the money, he became distressed and began drinking excessively.

Tragically, Daniel was found hanging from a masau tree outside a friend’s house later that night.
