Trouble: Beef sellers cry out on sales after man-cow sex

The recent sentencing of 24-year-old James Mtambo to 30 months in prison with hard labor for having sex with a cow has sent shockwaves through Chitipa District, Malawi Data has learnt.
Mtambo was caught having sex with a cow earlier this year.
Despite his initial denial, four witnesses testified against him, leading to his conviction.
However, the aftermath of this incident has had an unexpected impact on the local community.
Beef sellers in the district are complaining of dwindling sales, with many customers expressing fear and discomfort about consuming beef.
Damiano Munthali, a local resident, spoke to Malawi Data about the situation.
“People are scared to buy beef because of what happened. They’re worried that the cows might have been tainted somehow.”
Restaurant owners are also feeling the pinch.
Mai Kumwenda, a local restaurateur, expressed her concerns to Malawi Data.
“Our sales have dropped significantly since the incident. Customers are hesitant to order beef dishes, and it’s affecting our business.”
The case has brought fear and unease to the community, with many calling for greater awareness and education about animal welfare and human behavior.
