Eating his own: Father prisoned over sex with a year old daughter

A 24-year-old man named Christopher Lameck has been given a 14-year prison sentence with hard labor by the Neno First Grade Magistrate court for having sex with his one-year-old daughter.

The court heard from the State Prosecutor, Inspector Levison Musote, who said that the man had been sexually abusing his daughter on several occasions.

Musote explained that in May 2025, the man was caught by his wife kissing the baby’s breast.

A statement seen by Malawi Data states that on two other separate occasions, the wife found semen on the girl’s private parts after leaving her with her father while she went out.When she saw this, she became very upset with her husband and told her mother-in-law and the police.

The baby was then taken to Lisungwi Community Hospital for an examination. The results showed that the baby’s hymen was swollen and there were lacerations, which led to the man’s arrest.

At the court hearing, Lameck said he didn’t do it.This prompted the state to bring four witnesses to court.

The state proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to his guilty verdict.In his statement, Musote asked the court for a harsher punishment.

He said it was very sad that a father, who should be the first to protect his daughter, is actually a danger to her.

Lameck, however, asked for mercy, saying he suffers from anemia and also takes care of his mother.

Magret Khobidi, the First Grade Magistrate, agreed with the state and sentenced Christopher Lameck to 14 years in prison with hard labor.

Lameck comes from Kadzamedi village, under Traditional Authority Symon in Neno district.
