Busted! Malawians arrested over invalid status in Tanzania

Tanzania’s Immigration Department has arrested 31 Malawians, along with individuals from other countries, for residing in the country without valid documents.

The arrests reportedly took place between July 19-22, 2025, during a house-to-house operation.

The Malawian Embassy in Tanzania claims to be unaware of the mass arrest.

Meanwhile, many Tanzanian nationals are conducting businesses in Malawi, with some reportedly renting government-owned houses.
