The suspect was apprehended at the Phombeya Adhoc checkpoint located in Phalula, Balaka District.
The Phalula Criminal Investigations Department (CID) team and General Duties Officers were operating an ad hoc roadblock when they received a tip indicating that the suspect was on his motorcycle traveling from Matope Trading Centre to sell medical drugs at Phalula Trading Centre.
As the suspect arrived at an impromptu roadblock, he was halted and during a search of his laptop bag, officials discovered a variety of medical drugs including Bactrim, Genta, Indocid, contraceptive pills, Amoxicillin, Cipro, Benziceline, Vitamin B, LA, ARV tablets, Aspirin, and several others.
This resulted in the apprehension of the suspect and the confiscation of medical drugs.
Stephano, hails from Tchenga Village in the Traditional Authority of Symon in Neno, and will appear in court shortly to face a charge of possessing medical drugs without a license
