Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga only African nominated for FIFA Women’s Best Player Award

Malawian womens football star Temwa Chawinga has been nominated for the 2025 FIFA Women’s Best Player award, the only African player on the list.

Chawinga, who plays for Kansas City Current, is among 17 players vying for the award. Voting is open until November 28, 2025, on the official FIFA app, with the winner to be announced early next year.

The 10th anniversary edition of the award will honour the most outstanding figures in global football.
