Ba neba: Malawi beats Zambia in legends match
Malawi’s Football Legend have won the trophy in the Legends Clash, beating neighbors Zambia 6-5 in a thrilling penalty shootout at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
The teams were locked at 2-2 after 90 minutes of action-packed football.
The match was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams showing off their skills and creating scoring opportunities.
Zambia’s Clive Hachilensa had an early penalty saved by Malawi’s Simplex Nthala, but Isaac Chansa’s penalty and Jonas Sakuwaha’s header gave Zambia the lead.
Malawi fought back, with Mapopa Msukwa scoring a consolation goal and Jimmy Zakazaka leveling the game with a direct free-kick in added time.
In the shootout, Nthala was the hero, saving the decisive spot-kick to secure Malawi’s 6-5 win.
