NRB intensifies children registry

Children under the age of 16 in Mzimba North, Mzuzu City, Lilongwe City, and Lilongwe Rural West will be able to register for birth certificates from July 8.

This is part of Phase Three of the National Birth Registration Campaign being rolled out by the National Registration Bureau [NRB].

The 10-day exercise will run until July 17 and aims to ensure that every Malawian child under 16 is registered and issued with a birth certificate.

The NRB says the campaign will also give citizens aged 16 and 17 an opportunity to register for national identity cards at designated Teacher Development Centres.[TDCs]

Meanwhile, parents and guardians have been asked to register children at government primary schools by presenting their national IDs or ID numbers.
