Court slaps Mama Kadzamira

The Supreme Court of Appeal has dismissed former official hostess Cecilia Tamanda Kadzamira’s application to suspend enforcement of a High Court order in the long-running Tichitenji Estate dispute.

In an order dated September 2, 2026, the Supreme Court said it lacks jurisdiction to hear Kadzamira’s application at this stage, directing her to first seek a stay of the varied order from the High Court.

The court has also ordered Kadzamira to pay costs to the respondents following the dismissal of her application.

The matter follows a December 2025 High Court ruling which declared the Kaphwiti Banda family the lawful owners of Tichitenji Estate and found Kadzamira’s title deed defective and invalid.

Although the High Court initially stayed enforcement of the judgment pending Kadzamira’s appeal, it varied the order in July 2026 to allow the parties to use separate portions of the estate while the appeal remains pending.

The Supreme Court’s latest decision does not determine the main appeal over ownership of the estate.
