”We have no fear”-Mtumbuka tells Chisale
UTM senior official Mathews Mtumbuka has condemned what he describes as a growing culture of political intimidation in the country.
Mtumbuka’s remarks follow a video circulating on social media in which Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) official Norman Chisale appears to threaten UTM members over their political activities.
Writing on his social media page, Mtumbuka said Malawi should reject politics characterised by destruction, violence and threats, and instead promote political debate and national development.
In the video, Chisale is heard warning UTM members to be careful, saying the party’s activities could lead to confrontation if they continued moving around conducting political activities.

Chisale also called on UTM youths to reduce what he described as their political activities and urged traditional leaders to allow him to deal with people he accused of wanting to cause disturbances.
The remarks come as UTM president Dalitso Kabambe and Mtumbuka met with former President and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leader Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera in Kasungu District.
