Maid of theft: Woman arrested for stealing
Police in Lilongwe have arrested a maid suspected of stealing children’s clothes and other items from a house where she worked.
Lilongwe Deputy Police Spokesperson Khumbo Sanyiwa said the woman, identified as Yuniki Mwachande, 34, from Chinsapo, was employed as a housemaid in a house in Area 3, and on August 3, her employer left her to do the laundry.
But instead of cleaning the house and doing the laundry, as her employer had said, the woman is suspected of stealing children’s clothes, groceries and other items and running away.
“The employer reported the matter to the police and we have been searching for the woman, who has now been arrested. So far, we have recovered some of the stolen items after searching the woman’s house. The woman is expected to appear in court soon to answer the theft charge,” said Sanyiwa.
