Court orders police to arrest Tamia Ja

A Lilongwe court has ordered the police to arrest Hanna Jabes, also known as Tamia Ja, for failing to appear in court twice.

The court on August 26, 2025 ordered Tamia Ja to pay K50,000 for failing to appear in court but the money was not paid and today she was supposed to appear in court but she did not return.

The National Aids Commission (NAC), which is the complainant, is the one who requested the order, saying that she is in contempt of court.

According to the commission’s lawyer, Bruno Matumbi, the court has ordered that Tamia Ja be detained by the police until the trial is over so that they can bring her to court.

Matumbi said that on both occasions they have been bringing witnesses to the case but they have only come back with them.

Tamia Ja is alleged to have disclosed through her social media page the physical condition of another person without the person’s consent and defaming the person by publishing their profile.
