‘FORGIVE ME’- Chakwera tells Malawians saying he is a good man

President Lazarus Chakwera

President Lazarus Chakwera has asked Malawians to vote him again next Tuesday saying the fuel shortages and poor economic status are caused by his enemies. He has since said he will fire some government officials after he wins the elections.

He raised alarming concerns regarding potential sabotage within the National Oil Company of Malawi (Nocma), hinting at imminent personnel changes after the upcoming elections.

The President’s revelation comes amidst ongoing fuel shortages that have plagued the nation, affecting both consumers and businesses.

During his speech, Chakwera disclosed that his administration has uncovered links to deliberate disruptions by certain officials at Nocma, a government entity responsible for managing fuel supply in the country.

“The integrity of our institutions is paramount, and I will not stand by while a few individuals put the livelihoods of many at risk,” he stated, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

Chakwera’s remarks come in response to mounting public frustration over the persistent fuel shortages, which have led to long queues at petrol stations and increased transportation costs.

While Chakwera has pledged to take decisive action against those responsible, he has opted to delay any firings until after the elections, a move he believes will prevent accusations of politicization.
