Money heist: Thieves steal at Balaka District Council
Unidentified individuals broke into the finance office of the Balaka District Council, stealing seven computers valued at K3.2 million and over K6 million in cash stored in a safe.
A senior official from the Finance Office says five computers were taken from one office, while two were removed from another.
He noted that no computers remained in either office and that the incident was reported to the police on Monday morning.
Inspector Gladson M’bumpha, the Balaka Police Spokesperson, confirmed that the incident has been reported, stating that initial investigations revealed the absence of security guards at the office during the break-in.
He added that further details will be provided later.
