Attendant caught with fuel
Authorities in Balaka have confiscated 180 litres of petrol that Robert Magombo, a fuel attendant at Meru filling station (Ngwangwa), sold to two vendors, Herbert John and Leonard Mtalama.
The three individuals have been arrested, with Magombo facing charges for not adhering to lawful orders from authorities, while the vendors will be charged with possessing property believed to have been obtained unlawfully.
Inspector Gladson M’bumpha, spokesperson for Balaka Police Station, reported that the trio was apprehended last night around 11 PM after receiving a tip-off about vendors purchasing fuel in jerrycans at Ngwangwa Filling Station.
“Police detectives quickly arrived at the filling station and discovered that Robert Magombo, the fuel attendant, had already sold 180 litres of petrol to Herbert John and Leonard Mtalama, who are business partners,” M’bumpha stated.
He added that the 180 litres of petrol were stored in separate fuel tanks concealed within Mtalama’s vehicle.
