Dogs kill security guard in Zomba
A 41-year-old security guard named Clement Lihutahas has died after being attacked by German Shepherd dogs in Old Naisi, Zomba.
Lihutahas, employed by Chalo Security Services, was on duty protecting a residence owned by John Kauta on Monday night.
As reported by Zomba Police Deputy Publicist Andrew Mwale, the homeowner allegedly heard the guard calling for assistance, claiming he was under attack by dogs.
He was advised to take refuge in the guardroom, as there were suspicions he might have been intoxicated.
The next morning, another guard discovered Lihutahas’ body lying on the lawn in a pool of blood, with two aggressive dogs in close proximity.
Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department arrived at the scene, and the body was transported to Zomba Central Hospital, where postmortem findings confirmed that death resulted from multiple dog bites, severe hemorrhage, and damage to major arteries.
