Teacher finally arrested for sexual assault
Police in Salima have finally arrested a 32-year-old educator, Dunken Phiri, who had been on the run for several weeks due to accusations of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student.
As reported by Salima Police spokesperson Rabbeca Ndiwate, the alleged incident took place on February 2, 2026, when Phiri purportedly enticed the victim to a maize field under the pretense of offering academic assistance.
Other students are said to have witnessed the event.
Phiri fled the scene immediately after the occurrence but was subsequently arrested in Nnema Village.
Medical assessments conducted at Salima District Hospital verified the occurrence of sexual activity.
He is originally from Manowa Village, within the jurisdiction of Traditional Authority Kambwiri.
