“Leave Izeki ndi Jakobo alone”-Family tells Malawians

The families of the iconic comedy pair the late Izeki and Jakobo have voiced their worries regarding the increasing dissemination of their videos across various online platforms without appropriate authorization.

The family states that numerous individuals persist in uploading and sharing the comedians’ content without permission, thus denying the rightful owners the ability to manage their work.

They have urged fans to view the content through official channels.

William Nyanga stated that individuals who are utilizing and distributing the content are doing so without obtaining permission from the intellectual property owners.

The pair that kept Malawi laughing.

William remarked: “As a company, we oversee everything associated with Izeki ndi Jakobo; including the name, content, and all materials linked to the brand. Anyone wishing to use any aspect of Izeki ndi Jakobo must first contact us to negotiate the terms and conditions.”

He mentioned that they intend to have all related content removed so that those interested in viewing anything from Izeki ndi Jakobo can do so exclusively through their official online platforms.

In the meantime, the Copyright Society of Malawi (COSOMA) has reminded the public that distributing copyrighted material without consent is illegal and could result in legal action.

The families assert that they are actively working to safeguard the duo’s legacy by tackling the unauthorized exploitation of their productions.

Izeki ndi Jakobo were Malawi’s most iconic and celebrated comedy duo, famously comprising the late John Nyanga (Izeki) and the late Eric Mabedi (Jakobo).

For over three decades, they captivated the nation with their brilliant skits, capturing everyday Malawian life, relationships, and societal issues with a perfect blend of humor and life lessons.
