Malawi Police sets sights on modern aircrafts

The Malawi Police Service has announced its intention to acquire modern aircraft and revitalize its Air Wing while evaluating the expenses associated with repairing its grounded helicopter.

This helicopter, which was previously utilized for surveillance, search and rescue operations, and various security tasks throughout the nation, has been out of service at the Mtakataka Air Wing in Dedza due to mechanical issues that arose several years ago.

Lael Chimtembo, the National Police Spokesperson, stated that the police have dispatched some officers for local training in aircraft operation and maintenance as of January 12 this year, and they are currently engaged in this training.

Chimtembo remarked, “We are also assessing the costs involved in rehabilitating this grounded helicopter, ensuring that the rehabilitation expenses do not surpass its operational value.”
