Mzuzu, Lilongwe Road to face disruptions this weekend

Motorists travelling between Lilongwe and Mzuzu will experience a temporary disruption on Sunday as the Roads Authority closes the M001 Road at Mpasadzi Bridge in Kasungu District to allow controlled rock blasting works under the ongoing bridge reconstruction project.

According to a public notice issued by the Authority , traffic will be stopped from 1:40 p.m. ahead of the scheduled blasting at 2:00 p.m.

The exercise will be carried out by contractor Mota-Engil as part of the reconstruction works at the bridge.

The Roads Authority says the closure is expected to last between 30 and 45 minutes, although the duration may change depending on operational and safety requirements, including post-blast inspections and clearance of the carriageway.

Meanwhile, the road will be reopened immediately after it is declared safe for public use.

The Authority has advised motorists travelling in both the Lilongwe and Mzuzu directions to plan their journeys accordingly.
