Man arrested over illegal fuel possession

Police in Phalombe have detained a 25-year-old individual named James Jimmy from Chinani Village, under Traditional Authority Chiwalo, for allegedly possessing petroleum products without the necessary permit.

Phalombe Police Spokesperson, Jimmy Kapanja, reported that officers intercepted the suspect this morning while he was riding a motorcycle with a 200-litre drum on the Migowi–Chiringa road, en route to Chiringa Trading Centre.

Kapanja stated that when Jimmy noticed the police, he crossed the road, abandoned the motorcycle, and fled on foot.

Police officers chased after him and successfully apprehended him. Upon inspecting the drum, they found it contained petrol.
