Kidnapped British woman found!
British national Nasrat Osman, who was abducted in Mount Pleasant, Blantyre last Friday, has been found safe and is back home.
Her brother, Shobi Jiwa said Deputy Inspector General of Police Noel Kayira was shot during the rescue operation but survived and is out of danger.
He did not disclose where the shooting occurred or who was holding Osman.
“We are deeply grateful to Noel Kayira, Deputy Inspector General of the Malawi Police, who took a bullet to his body and bravely saved our sister Nusrat,” Jiwa said.
The rescue comes six days after police reported that Osman, 47, was abducted in Mount Pleasant.
Police said four men believed to have been using a grey Nissan Dualis, registration number CA 6956, were involved.
The Malawi Police Service had offered a K30 million reward for credible information leading to Osman’s rescue and the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the perpetrators.
