Thyolo man arrested for ‘stupidity’

A 27-year-old individual named Chisomo Andrew has been arrested at Luchenza in Thyolo, following allegations of sexual abuse involving a four-year-old child at a graveyard.

According to Baseke Mwale, the station’s official spokesperson, the alleged offense occurred on September 15, 2026, at approximately 14:00 hours in the vicinity of Mandaalendo graveyard, situated along Thuchira River behind Luchenza market.

Mwale reports that several men engaged in bathing activities in the river when they detected a child’s persistent cries. Upon investigating the source of the distress, they located the sound originating from the cemetery within the town.

Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered the accused in a state of undress positioned over the equally unclothed victim, at which point they restrained him.

Subsequent medical evaluation substantiated that the child had experienced sexual assault.
