NkhataBay man arrested for murder

Police in NkhataBay district have arrested a 26-year-old man identified as Robert Kamundi, in connection with the alleged murder of 30-year-old Kondwani Chirwa, which stemmed from a disagreement that occurred at a drinking joint.

Nkhata Bay Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Devoter Mithi, reported that the incident took place, at the Nkhata Bay-Chintheche Turn-Off.

According to Mithi, the disagreement escalated into a violent altercation, during which Kamundi allegedly struck Chirwa in the head with a stone, rendering him unconscious.

A postmortem examination performed at Mzuzu Central Hospital determined that death resulted from head and chest injuries, specifically haemothorax, which is characterized by blood accumulation within the chest cavity.
