Valentino Phiri ARRESTED!

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested former Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Commander, General Paul Valentino Phiri (Retired), over five counts relating to alleged abuse of office and dealing in terrorist property.

According to an ACB press release dated October 1, 2026, the charges stem from allegations concerning his role in facilitating illegal arms trafficking between June and July 2025.

Meanwhile, Phiri is expected to appear before court after the cautioning process is completed.
