Three pupils collapse in Chikwawa

Details have emerged that three pupils collapsed due to presumed heatwave at Mitole Primary School in Chikwawa after temperatures marked to 43 degrees Celsius in the district.

inistry of Education spokesperson Mandy Mbangula said education authorities who visited the school established that learners were struggling to concentrate in class, raising concerns about effective teaching and learning.

She said authorities have since introduced measures to reduce the impact of the heatwave, including adjusting school timetables, encouraging learners to bring drinking water and conducting some lessons outdoors.

“These measures aim to reduce learners’ exposure to excessive heat while supporting continued teaching and learning,” said Mbangula.
