“I want MK 297 Million”- Nechavava sues Jomo

A motorist from Blantyre, Lordmarlven Nechavava, is seeking K297.8 million along with a formal apology from Blantyre City Mayor Isaac Jomo Osman following an alleged assault at a fuel station.

Nechavava, represented by Ritz Attorneys-at-Law, is requesting K297.8 Million from Osman and the Blantyre City Council for the alleged assault and battery that took place at Mount Pleasant in Blantyre on October 28.

In a letter dated October 29, 2026, which was reviewed by NationOnline, the motorist is asking for K97.8 million in general damages and K200 million in aggravated or exemplary damages, not including medical expenses.

This demand was made just a day after Nechavava filed a formal complaint at the Blantyre Police Station against the city’s mayor.

The letter states that Nechavava was in line for fuel when he questioned Osman’s decision to relocate a motorist who had been at the station for three days.

It is alleged that Osman, wielding a stick, struck Nechavava, resulting in jaw injuries that have made it difficult for him to eat.

“Our client also requests a written apology from the mayor and the council for this regrettable, deplorable, and despicable behavior. The payment and the written apology must be provided within seven days from the date of this letter,” states the letter signed by Yankho Kawalewale.

The letter further warns: “If both are not received within that timeframe, we have been instructed to pursue the most severe legal actions available to our client against both the mayor and the council.
