Man arrested for supplying marijuana

Police in Dedza have arrested a 46 year old man, Mayamiko Empraim, for allegedly selling cannabis to three learners aged between 13 and 15 at Kapalamula Primary School.

The arrest followed a tip off from one of the learners during a drug abuse awareness meeting conducted at the school.

According to Dedza Police public relations Officer Beatrice Jefita, the suspect remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon.

Jefita said investigations are underway to establish the source of the cannabis and determine whether other learners are involved in the alleged drug trade.

She has since appealed to parents, teachers and community members to work together in protecting children from drug abuse.
