MK10 Billion boost made in CDF funds

The Malawi Enterprise Development Fund (MEDF) has received an additional K10 billion from government for Constituency Development Fund (CDF) loans, bringing the total funding received in the 2026/2027 financial year to K25 billion.

According to a public announcement, signed by MEDF Chief Executive Officer Kayisi M’bwana Sadala, the latest funding was the second tranche, following the initial K15 billion received in the first quarter.

MEDF has since urged eligible women and youths across the country to take advantage of the opportunity by applying for the loans through their respective Area Development Committees (ADCs) and councils.

The fund says the loans are intended to promote entrepreneurship, support business growth and improve people’s livelihoods.

However, MEDF has expressed concern over delays by some councils in processing loan applications, saying the situation has affected timely access to the funds, with some constituency allocations remaining unused while others have reached their disbursement limits.

Meanwhile, the institution has therefore called on councils that have not yet submitted applications to speed up the process to ensure eligible beneficiaries access the available funding.
