Please abstain: Condom prices to rise

Global condom prices may experience an increase due to ongoing supply chain disruptions associated with the Iran war, as cautioned by Karex, the world’s leading manufacturer.

According to Karex CEO Goh Miah Kiat, the company is considering a price hike of 20 to 30 percent, attributing this to the escalating costs of raw materials, production, and shipping.

The disruptions, especially in the Strait of Hormuz region, have impacted the availability of essential materials and caused delays in deliveries, with some shipments still not having arrived at their intended locations despite a strong demand.

Karex, which produces over five billion condoms each year and serves more than 130 countries, indicates that it may have no choice but to transfer the increased costs to consumers, although it currently possesses sufficient stock to last for several months.
