A traffic accident on the Ngabu–Sorgin section of the M1 Road in Chikwawa has resulted in the death of 67-year-old Steven M’bumpha from Mtchacha Village in the district.
Chikwawa Police Station’s public relations officer, Dickson Matemba, verified the occurrence, stating that it took place at Konzele yesterday and involved a Ford Ranger operated by William Namate (50) from Buleya Village, Traditional Authority Kapeni in Blantyre.
“When we arrived at the scene, the driver collided with a motorcycle that was merging onto the main road from a T-junction,” Matemba explained.
As a result of the collision, M’bumpha, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered severe injuries and was taken to Ngabu Rural Hospital, where medical staff declared him dead upon arrival.
