Ombudsman nods to Brian Banda recruitment probe

The Office of the Ombudsman has declared that it has initiated an investigation regarding the recruitment of journalist Brian Banda as the Director General (DG) of the state broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).

This action comes in response to a complaint from one of the nation’s journalists, Davie Mchinga, who submitted a request to the institution for an inquiry into Banda’s appointment.

A letter from the Office of the Ombudsman has verified that the investigation is currently in progress and that MBC has been requested to provide a response to the issue.

Mchinga claims that MBC did not adhere to the appropriate recruitment procedures when appointing Banda to the role of DG.
