Horny man sent to prison

The First Grade Magistrate’s Court in Balaka has sentenced a 21-year-old man, Lloyd Peter, to 10 years of hard labor imprisonment for engaging in sexual intercourse with a 9-year-old girl.

The court, represented by state prosecutor Superintendent Bodwin Msukwa, learned that the defendant, Lloyd Peter, committed the crime on February 11, 2026, at Khoswe Village in Balaka District, where he had sexual relations with a minor under the age of 18, in violation of Section 138 of the Penal Code.

It was further revealed in court that on that day, the victim, accompanied by her brother, was sent by their mother to a nearby shop to purchase Davita Juice.

On their return, they encountered the accused, who forcibly took her into a maize field and had sexual intercourse with her.After the incident, the accused fled the scene, leaving the victim in distress alongside her younger brother.

Fortunately, two women passing by came to her aid and took her back to her mother, who subsequently reported the matter to the Group Village Headman.

He advised her to contact the police, which led to the arrest of the accused on March 10, 2026.

When brought before the court, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge of sexual intercourse with a female child. This led the state to present four witnesses who established the case beyond a reasonable doubt, resulting in his conviction.

In delivering the sentence, First Grade Magistrate Augustine Mizaya dismissed the mitigating factors presented, including the claim that the convict has a family to support, and agreed with the state’s recommendation for a severe penalty.

Consequently, he sentenced Lloyd Peter to 10 years of hard labor imprisonment as a deterrent to potential offenders.

Lloyd Peter hails from Khoswe Village in the Traditional Authority of Nsamala in Balaka District.
