Albino ruthlessly killed in Lilongwe
In Lilongwe, a 36-year-old man with albinism, Chipiliro Laston, has been found dead in a shallow grave with some body parts missing, police say, with a suspect arrested so far.
Laston had been missing for two months from the Senior Chief Masumbankhunda area.
The body was discovered in the same area where he disappeared.
Lilongwe Phirilanjuzi Member of Parliament, Peter Dimba, confirmed the incident, stating that the case came to light after suspected perpetrators tried to sell human body parts to a man.
National Police spokesperson Lael Chimtenbo also confirmed the incident, adding that 46-year-old Musa Masano has been arrested in connection with the case.
This tragic incident is linked to the ongoing issue of killings, attacks, and grave exhumations of people with albinism in Malawi, fueled by harmful myths and false beliefs that their body parts can be used in rituals for wealth and good fortune.
