Teachers arrested for helping cheating in STD 8 exams

Police in Mponela, Dowa have arrested two primary school educators for allegedly supplying answered examination scripts to students currently taking their Primary School Leaving Certificate Examinations.

MacPatson Msadala, the spokesperson for Mponela police, has confirmed this incident, stating that investigations are ongoing.

The two individuals, Hendrina Kachule and Kapindula Kalajere, who were assigned to supervise the exams, were caught yesterday at Ngala Primary School in the jurisdiction of Senior Chief Chakhaza in Dowa, while they were distributing papers that contained answers to multiple choice questions to the students.

In the meantime, representatives from the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) were not immediately reachable for comments.

Kachule, who is 36 years old, is from Nankumba village in the area of Senior Chief Chakhaza in Dowa, while Kalajere, aged 41, is from Petros Moyo, Traditional Authority Mzukuzuku in Mzimba district.
