Former Malawi deputy Speaker of Parliament dies

Former Member of Parliament for Ntcheu Central Constituency and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jones Chingola, has passed away today at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe following a prolonged illness.

His son, Jones Chingola Jnr, reported that his father had been battling stroke, diabetes, and high blood pressure since 2012 until his demise.

He mentioned that preparations are currently in progress to move the body to Mthunzi Mortuary, with plans for transportation to their home village in Ntcheu District scheduled for tomorrow.

Chingola Jnr also stated that the burial service is anticipated to occur on Friday.

Chingola held the position of Member of Parliament for Ntcheu Central Constituency and served as First Deputy Speaker of Parliament from 2009 to 2014.
